Team Zimbabwe has completed the first surgical day! We are working in two operating rooms, one led by team leader and plastic surgeon Dr. Evan Beale and the other by Dr. Craig Hobar. New to LEAP is plastic surgeon Dr. Giorgio Giatsidis, who will be assisting with surgeries.
Today, a child came in with a bowel obstruction that required urgent surgery by a local physician. During the middle of his surgery, the child arrested. When our team learned what was happening, they went in to assist and helped resuscitate this child with compressions and medications. What an incredible opportunity, great benefit, and a job well done. You are truly what making a difference looks like in the world!
