Since our founding in 1991, LEAP Global Missions has faced many challenges in providing free specialized surgical services to those in need around the world. This year, we are faced with a new obstacle: a global pandemic. COVID-19 has threatened the lives of millions of people, and the ramifications are still unknown. However, as the spread of the coronavirus continues, LEAP’s top priority remains, as always, the safety and well-being of our patients, their families, our medical volunteers, and global partners.
Although we have temporarily postponed medical care and surgeries where advisable, our work has not stopped and cannot stop. While we cannot physically be with our patients, their families, and our in-country partners, we continue to follow our Christ-centered mission and core values. We are exploring new ways to help our international mission partners such as donating medical supplies and collecting funds to enable their access to COVID-19 testing.
LEAP’s Board of Directors and staff, along with our dedicated volunteers, are committed now more than ever to our mission of transforming lives. We are moving forward with both optimism and caution with our plans for Fall 2020 missions as well as our annual Gala on September 24. We are also developing COVID-19 response protocols for future missions while actively monitoring guidelines from international as well as federal, state and local authorities.

Our hearts and prayers continue to be with everyone in our LEAP family as we move forward through the uncertainty of this pandemic.
